Raw food mungkin dijadikan makanan di beberapa tempat jual kucing. Ternyata, ini berbeda lho dengan makanan kering atau makanan instan yang bisa kamu beli di toko hewan atau pet shop.

Jika kamu mengadopsi atau istilahnya menukar mahar dengan kucing yang diberi makan seperti di atas, apakah sebaiknya sesampainya di rumah diikuti? Seberapa penting jenis makanan tersebut?

Apa yang Dimaksud dengan Raw Food?

Raw food merupakan sajian makanan mentah untuk jenis kucing dan anjing yang diberikan di pet shop atau jual kucing. Makanan ini bisa berupa daging yang digiling atau dicampur dengan sayuran dan buah-buahan atau daging saja?

Pecinta kucing yang memberi makan raw food pada peliharaannya mempunyai berbagai alasan.

Pertama, mereka beranggapan berdasarkan habitat aslinya, baik kucing ras maupun kucing domestik atau kampung merupakan hewan yang hidup di alam. Mereka sudah terbiasa makan makanan mentah dan bisa terus hidup dengan sehat.

Alasan kedua, berdasarkan jenisnya atau dalam bahasa sains disebut sebagai kelas, mereka adalah Felidae. Jenis hewan karnivora yang sama dengan harimau, cheetah, dan seterusnya. Coba kamu perhatikan bentuk tubuh secara keseluruhan. Kucing termasuk hewan karnivora.

Mereka diciptakan makan daging. Memberinya makan mentah sesuai kebiasaan yang ada.

Kamu mungkin pernah merasakan, insting kucing meski dipelihara masih sama. Jika dilepaskan, mereka akan memakan hewan pengerat, burung, dan lainnya yang berada di sekitar.

Ketiga, setiap makanan alami ketika dimasakan dengan suhu cukup tinggi akan mengurangi zat gizi yang terkandung di dalamnya. Hal tersebut terjadi jika kamu memberi kucing makanan isntan kering atau daging sisa makanan rumah manusia.

Kucing kekurangan banyak zat gizi yang diperlukan oleh  tubuhnya jika diberi makanan mantang dan instan. Akibatnya, pertumbuhannya tidak sempurna.

Apakah pemberian makanan mentah tidak menyebabkan kucing menjadi lebih ganas? Bagaimana dengan bulunya? Jangan-jangan setelah dibawa pulang dari jual kucing menjadi kusam!

Memang banyak orang yang beranggapan, memakan daging menyebabkan emosi menjadi lebih tidak stabil. Begitu pula dengan kucing. Kucing yang diberi makan mentah akan menjadi lebih galak. Tidak demikian, lho! Belum ada penelitian yang menyebutkan, konsumsi makanan mentah menyebabkan kucing tidak ramah.

Begitu pula dengan kerontokan rambut. Rambut yang rontok berhubungan dengan kesehatan. Raw food memenuhi kebutuhan gizi kucing. Jadi, rambut atau bulunya tidak mungkin rontok.

Hal yang Harus Diperhatikan dalam Menyajikan Raw Food

Coba kamu bayangkan, lebih mahal memberi kucing makanan mentah atau matang atau kemasan?

Makanan kemasan lebih mahal, karena porsi makan kucing dengan ini akan lebih banyak. Penyajiannya memang cenderung lebih cepat, karena tingga buka kemasan dan masukkan ke dalam wadah.

Sementara itu, untuk makanan matang, penyajiannya lebih rumit kalau dilakukan dengan sengaja. Kecuali jika kamu memberikannya sisa dapur.

Jadi, siap membuat raw food untuk kucing kesayangan? Paling tidak di waktu-waktu tertentu? Ini beberapa hal yang harus diperhatikan dan biasa dilakukan di jual kucing.

  1. Untuk pembiasaan kucing dapat diberi makan ayam mentah
  2. Sajikan ayam bagian dada yang banyak mengandung  daging setelah dicincang halus atau digiling.
  3. Ayam harus dalam kondisi segar dan bukan ayam tiren.
  4. Sediakan air di deka makanan kucing. Konsumsi makanan mentah akan membuatnya kucing membutuhkan banyak minum.
  5. Untuk keamanan, ayam mentah bisa disimpan terlebih dahulu di freezer sebelum disajikan. Pendinginan akan menyebabkan bakteri mati. Saat akan digunakan diamkan terlebih dahulu hingga tidak beku. Ayam yang beku akan terasa keras.
  6. Siram dengan air panas agar daging ayam lebih cepat mencair kembali.
